There are some very basic craps terms you should know before you play this game. Many of them have been incorporated into our lives and we use them on a daily basis, and this is another of the factors which makes this game so interesting.

The popularity of this game sees us using terms relative to it and they have become part of the English language. A “Natural” means a craps win and we use this all the time to describe a winner, as in “he is a Natural”when someone does anything well.

The “Come out roll” is a very important term this is the first roll of the dice with a new shooter, before an established point. The “Point” is the first roll that neither wins or loses and is a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10.

Other terms are the betting options and there are many of these in Craps. A Pass line bet is placed before the come out roll and bets for the dice. A Don’t pass bet, is opposite to a Pass line bet and bets against the dice. A One roll bet is something you should never do because of the high casino edge and hedging your bets by making “Insurance bets” is a good thing.

If a point is rolled the craps player is then able to start insuring their bets by placing a pass bet with times odds. Some online casinos offer 2 x odds, while other offer more and although I have not seen this personally, I believe you can on occasion find 10 x odds. This bet brings the house edge down dramatically.

There is no real skill to this game and once you have learned these basic terminologies and what they mean to your wagers, you have the skills to play craps.
