The Ashes

Dang! You got shocks, pegs… lucky! You ever take it on some sweet jumps [Napoleon Dynamite reference]? The above wooden plane was made by a 19 year old, who spent 3 years constructing it.  Now the outcome of his hard work is being put to action.  The wingspan is about 85 feet and it can hop a distance of 35 feet.  The pedals spin the propeller which lifts the plane off.  The height that the plane can go up to is about 5 feet. The idea was put into action by Dutch kid Jesse van Kuijk.  Jesse has never flown a real plane, but he studied self-powered craft such as the Gossamer Condor.  American pilot Bryan Allen also gave Jesse some tips during the construction.
